Job Title: Senior Accounting Technician (Social Economy & Individual Tax Focus)
Location: Hybrid/Metro Papineau (1 day minimum in person)
Hours: 30 hours/week, 1 year contract with potential for Permanent Full-Time, starting March 9th, 2026
Salary: 22.00$-28.00$hr depending on experience
Eligibility: Must qualify for Service Québec's wage subsidy

We are seeking a Senior Accounting Technician knowledgeable in social economy finance, with experience in project-based and fund accounting as well as experience with individual tax filing to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about supporting underrepresented non-profits and individuals with their financial and fiscal needs.
Key Responsibilities
- March/April:
- Tax Filing: Prepare, file and review individual tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Revenu Québec and CRA regulations.
- May-Onwards:
- Accounting technician: Assist with the internal accounting or financial management for the organization.
- Financial and accounting management Financial and Accounting technician support services for clients. Ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Reporting: Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual government and financial reports.
- Collaboration: Work closely with clients, internal teams, board of directors, external auditors, and tax authorities to resolve financial queries and optimize processes.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 5+ years in accounting, with a focus on non-profit finances, project or fund based accounting, and individual tax filing; corporate tax filing skills is an asset, not a requirement.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks or similar), Excel, and tax preparation tools (TaxCycle).
- Knowledge: Strong comprehension skills, understanding of Revenu Québec and CRA tax regulations, non-profit, charity and cooperative accounting standards.

- Soft Skills: Detail-oriented, organized, and communicative and able to deconstruct complex issues or financial information clearly and able to work autonomously.
- Community-Centered Practice : Provide client services through an intersectional approach. Demonstrate cultural competence and professional relevance in interactions especially within underrepresented communities .
- Language: Bilingual French/English - Additional languages is an asset
